Baby & Pregnancy Shoots

Seeing as we were already in the Studio for a New-Born shoot we thought we'd get a couple Photographs of my amazing wife, Emily (who was 27 weeks pregnant at the time) before the clients arrived. We had a few plays around with some lighting and basically took, which has since become, one of our favourite photographs to date...this might change when Baby Krause arrives in the world though...

There's no Photoshopping going on here; I fashioned a crude looking long snoot from some cardboard, took the brolley off the flash and jimmied it on with some zip-ties. It's now added to the arsenal of light reflectors, diffusers and other light modifiers in use in the studio for various shoots.

I actually took the photograph in Black & White straight on the camera.  We both seriously love B&W Photography, so much so that our entire Baby Portfolio is made up of Black & White Photographs.

Time to practice your "aaaww's and "aahh's"...here's a couple of our "Watch Them Grow" Babies.

Queen's College; Taunton's best kept Wedding Venue secret!

Friday 25th May 2012 - Recce for Alona & Mark's Wedding

For all of the weddings we're booked for we try to recce the venues if we're not already familiar with them. Sometimes this isn't possible due to our hectic photography schedules or the distance we travel to shoot some weddings but being in Taunton meant we could take the opportunity to scout this gorgeous venue.

Queen's College is a co-educational independent school located in Taunton, the county town of Somerset, England.  This stunning Grade II listed building, built by Giles and Gane in 1874, is a symmetrical Tudor Gothic design set in approximately 35 acres of grounds. It is now available for weddings and we're very excited to shoot only their 3rd wedding there!

We arranged to meet up with Lottie Francis, the event's manager for Queen's, who showed Emily & I around. As a former Pupil of Queen's I was familiar with the layout and the rooms that are designated for weddings, which obviously has it's benefits although coming back for business for the first time since leaving felt a bit strange. Being an old building we thought it essential for us to see the venue from a photography point of view - to check lighting, angles and to plan the shoot.

The school is beautiful, and that's not just me being bias.  If you're getting married in Somerset and like the look of Queen's College then get in touch with them....and then us to shoot your wedding!

RNLI Charity Ball, Halswell House, Somerset - Saturday 19th May

Saturday 19th May saw us attending a Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) Charity Ball at Halswell House in Goathurst, Somerset organised by some staff from Toolstation Ltd.

Part of our brief was for formal photographs as the guests arrived to a champagne reception and later in the evening, after the guests had a chance to sample the bubbly, some more, shall we say…"relaxed" photographs. We took this opportunity to wheel out our BRAND NEW feature...

PhotoBooth!

As the guest's arrived, in all their finery, glitz and glamour a massive queue was forming for photographs, although we actually found that some of them thought they were in the queue for the bar! Guess they must've been a bit miffed when they got to the front. This being said it didn't stop the poses coming thick and fast!

An enormous amount of hilarity followed the course of the evening, with it getting funnier by the hour!  With PhotoBooth we allow you to view yourselves on a screen in real time which helps the camera shy but really encourages the posers out there! You can see a few photos from the evening on our Facebook Page.

PhotoBooth was developed as a "bolt-on" for our new 2013-14 Wedding Platinum Package or as a Stand-Alone feature for Functions or Events. It provides endless fun and amusement for all who participate. We bring the equipment and props and you bring the madness! People talk about your event and how ridiculously fun this feature is for weeks making sure your event is the talk of the neighbourhood!  Trust us, we know! We've had to transfer our entire website to better hosting package to increase our bandwidth on the website! It's currently going through a gig A DAY - previous average monthly usage being under 4.5gb, May saw the site scream past 12gb and it was only the 23rd of the month!

After your event prints or full-resolution images from the PhotoBooth are ordered separately through our website http://justinkrause.co.uk
