BUSY BUSY BUSY !!!

Apologies for the lack of blogging recently! We've been so busy with weddings, portraits and other work (commercial bookings including website photography work for various sites, band photography and web maintenance) that it's not left any time to share what we've been up to recently! Rest assured we will upload some new photographs VERY soon!!

We've recently acquired a new URL which is acting as another gateway to our website. It's aimed primarily at our more local brides & grooms in Somerset but will serve to link to all aspects of our work when I get time to add more to the landing page. There's so many other talented photographers in Somerset (and some very shoddy ones also) so we're doing our best to get near the top of the pile on the search engines so new, prospective brides and grooms can choose the right photographers for them!

Check out the new URL http://PhotographerSomerset.com

Here's a couple teasers from one of our recent weddings - Amelia & Paul at The Shrubbery in Ilminster, Somerset.

Such a great couple, lovely wedding, great wedding, fun guests, amazing weather and lots of fun and memorable times including a Vintage double-decker red bus which was awesome even though the majority of us had to get off and walk up a hill as the old beauty was having none of it fully laden! But that's a story and photos for another blog post!!

UNBELIEVABLE!! Livid Bride kicks off on guest about her gift and demands receipt !

Ever had a gift given to you for anything and thought....hmm, ok, could've done better, not a terrible effort but not great but I'll get on with life....this Bride didn't...

According to the article she text her guest (presumably "ex"-friend now)  and told her the gift was bad...

Bad manners we think!! I've never heard of people having the most extravagant wedding and then EXPECTING to be able to finance it by their guests giving them money. Maybe the bride should have sold tickets for the wedding/event instead of sending out invitations; least her guests would have know where they stood! Emily and I would've LOVED that hamper! Sweets and Marshmallows? GET IN !
As always, don't don't hesitate to get in touch regarding anything wedding or photography related! Have you seen a good article and think it should be seen by more people? Send it over to us!
Don;t forget, if you know anyone getting hitched, anywhere in the world and they require Award Winning Photographers show them our work! We shoot all over the UK and Internationally.

If you could do your wedding all over again…(21% of Brides said they'd spend MORE on their wedding photography)

So you've had your BIG DAY!

Amazing!

Did it all go well?

Every wedding has it's own unique moments and story and way it will be remembered; the brides beautiful dress, the moving speeches, the ushers forgetting the buttonholes, the bride getting dropped during her first dance, the Bestman having a flat tyre, the vicar getting the brides name wrong in the ceremony. Those all make your wedding special and personal to you. But would you change anything from your day?

I know we're based in the UK, but I think this is still applicable and relevant for future brides to see so bear with me.

Back in March 2013 New York Magazine published their yearly "New York Brides" feature which had over a 100 brides from around New York area being asked what they'd do differently if they could have their BIG DAY all over again.

Out of everything you can have on your day we're honestly not surprised to see that PHOTOGRAPHY led the way.

21% said they would spend MORE on their wedding photography if they could do it all again.

We all know that all the other parts of the wedding puzzle are very important and add to your day to make it the magical day you've dreamt of, but in reality, when it's all said and done the flowers die, the food is eaten, the champers is drunk, your cake is demolished and your dress gets drycleaned and put back in its box (or sold). The only thing you have left are your photographs and maybe video.

We're with you all day, for 10 hours sometimes (mostly - it's the package we prefer as we really love to tell the story of your whole day). Taking photographs of your nearest and dearest all in the same place, having the day of your life, looking the best you ever have. How often in your life will this happen? Can you really afford NOT to book a professional photography team? Even if it's not us we urge you to book a professional wedding photography company. If that particular wedding photography team is out of your budget at the moment, get the calculator out (app on your phone, silly) and think, do we really need that chocolate fountain? (no offense to the chocolate fountain people, we're massive fans of your work!). Honestly though, you can probably make it up somewhere in the budget.

Emily and I understand. We've been there. We've been married for nearly 3 years and had to pay for our wedding ourselves. If you've seen our work and REALLY want to work with us chances are we really want to work with you also so drop us a line - come to our studio for an informal chat, have a coffee or tea and see more of our work. Or we can arrange a call over Facetime or Skype if distance is an issue so you can get to meet us. The most important part is knowing your photographers so you feel relaxed around the cameras and getting on with them so you can get the great photographs you deserve. We include a pre-wedding shoot and 12x8 print with our packages for this very reason.

Remember, your photographs will last forever (and we don't just upload them for a month to your private gallery, they're up there until...well...until the internet implodes).

Ardtornish Estate on BBC Radio

I found this quite by accident as I was showing some prospective brides and grooms places we'd shot weddings at as they were after ideas for venues.

We shot a wedding up at Ardtornish, in the western Highlands of Scotland back in March 2012. It's simply beautiful with great people running it and is surrounded by some of the most incredible landscape (more photos of Scotland here), not only in the UK but in the world.

I thought I'd also take this opportunity to put up some previously unseen photographs from Jenny & Andy's wedding day we shot up at Ardtornish.

The evening reception included a ceilidh and as some might know you can't just photograph a proper ceilidh, it can be chaos and it's brilliant fun! So I filmed it on one of our Canon DSLRs with a 50mm lens.

Our Premium PhotoBooks

I thought it might be good to do a promo video showcasing one of our clients Premium PhotoBooks.

We shot Craig & Louise's wedding up in their home town of Beaumaris on Anglesey (North Wales) and at their reception at Seiont Manor in Snowdonia.

The Premium Photobooks include a FREE professional design service by skilled designers to create stunning storybooks from your photographs, finished by expert printing and hand-binding of your albums. Choose from eight sizes of Premium Photobooks - all with pages that lay flat to create stunning edge-to-edge panoramic spreads.

After our Brides & Grooms have received their photographs on DVD they can being the not so easy task of choosing which photographs to include in their album, but there's no rush! One couple have only just ordered their Premium PhotoBook, nearly 2 years after their wedding!  Once chosen we shall get your photographs to the designers. You can chose from 3 design styles and also get to approve the design before printing, or easily request changes.

Printing of our Premium PhotoBooks is no ordinary feat. Printing, laminating and hand-binding are all parts of a 23 stage process that ensures the hard-bound Photobooks are as handsome as they are durable.

Your Premium Photobook design is printed onto professional silver halide photo paper using state-of-the-art digital printing press.

Thin sheets of PVC are then inserted to ensure the finished pages are rigid and infinitely more robust than lower quality photo books. This also means that when your Photobook is open the pages lie flat - the design is displayed across the entire spread, creating a stunning, edge-to-edge panoramic effect.

Finally your front and back photos are mounted onto the covers then sealed underneath a clear crystal acrylic to provide protection and an ultra-stylish finish.

If you're getting married and need photographers we can shoot your wedding anywhere in the world! Drop us an email with your wedding details!
