New photos and SEO update!

Sorry for lack of updates here. There are more updates on the main blog and this one (if you've found it randomly or are subscribed to it - THANKYOU) is purely to capture a wider audience! 

I've been doing a lot of background Search Engine Optimisation work on the website and also been buying some new URLs (not active yet) to act as new gateways for better SEO and linking.  The new SEO work isn't due to us having a lack of wedding photography work (very much far from it...the last 2 months saw us capture 7 amazing and totally different weddings all around the UK with more starting this coming weekend, the following weekend and 5 in August!)  It was purely because we really have some lovely content that was pretty much wasted as the site wasn't getting hit as much as I'd like so...

All this work has definitely paid off because the site's gone from being on around page 8 of Google for our most specific keywords to page 1 which I'm over the moon with. Also 2 other wedding magazines have found our work and want us to send them examples of weddings we've captured for possible features.

We're also going to be changing hosts to an SSD VPS soon as the shared effort that 1&1 provide is terrible and they randomly drop the site for no reason (monitored by a plugin I have in the admin on the site.  Anyhow...here's some more wedding photographs from around the UK and destination weddings.

Verity & Gary's engagement shoot!

Hi everyone! Very sorry for the total inactivity here on the blog but we've been so busy it's unreal. Given the choice to update the blog or do shoots/edit all the shoots I've obviously had to do the latter.

It seems the baby photography along with it, our sister company Little Bear Hand & Feet Castings has really come into it's own but more on that in a future post...maybe in a few days if you're lucky ..who knows !?

In the mean time here's some shots from Verity and Gary's engagement shoot or more accurately a 'pre-wedding' "get to know us and how we work and for us to see how they react to the camera and to see how comfortable they are being the centre of attention with a massive camera in their face" shoot!

Even with a little bit of rain we had a LOT of fun along with some interesting comments from some locals and Verity and Gary both passed with flying colours just being so relaxed and a good laugh.

We can't wait to shoot your wedding next month!

ooop noooorth

We trekked up through beyond vile weather on friday afternoon to Rotherham/Sheffield as I had a gig up in Sheffield on the Saturday night (join my music page here: https://www.facebook.com/KrauseyMusic/app_220150904689418) and stayed with some of Emily's family who hadn't met Matilda yet.

The snow hampered our journey up to Rotherham and once we were there it made it's self a bit of a nuisance but in all it was nice to see some proper snow again! Just a couple photos from the iphone.



Heading to the pub on friday night with one of Emily's cousins to meet the other cousins and their other  (better) halves!

I also took the opportunity on Sunday to take some photographs with my newest aquistition, my Halina Viceroy medium format 120 film camera. 

It really makes you slow down your photography, think about the settings, compose the shot (it's backwards in the viewfinder so a bit weird getting used to lining things up) and think about the actual shot more rather just firing away like is possible with digital. 

The only thing I'm a bit worried about is that the shutter is 1/60th of a second which is pretty slow and it was quite cold so maybe going to have some camera shake in the shots but I guess that's half of the excitement as we'll find out when they get developed...

I've got a few more frames to shoot (only 12 shots on a roll) so will get them developed soon as possible!! 


Obviously whilst up there I did take a few shots with the 5dm2 and our newest lens, Canon's 85mm f/1.8 USM. 

I've got to say...my flabber has been well and truly gasped by it!!  The speed and silence of focus really does pay off against the heavier, slower f/1.2 version especially considering the outrageous price difference between the 1.8 and the 1.2. I think we have one of the best lenses available and would willingly choose the 1.8 over the 1.2 again knowing how good it is and what we'll be using it for mainly - primarily purchased the f/1.8 85 for weddings, using in low lit venues/churches we needed it to be quick and quiet but without compromising image quality. Check out the photos below...I can't see any compromise there.  We have the 50mm f1/.4 USM and I was hoping it was going to be from the same stable (pardon the pun), it is!

Ardtornish Estate on BBC Radio

I found this quite by accident as I was showing some prospective brides and grooms places we'd shot weddings at as they were after ideas for venues.

We shot a wedding up at Ardtornish, in the western Highlands of Scotland back in March 2012. It's simply beautiful with great people running it and is surrounded by some of the most incredible landscape (more photos of Scotland here), not only in the UK but in the world.

I thought I'd also take this opportunity to put up some previously unseen photographs from Jenny & Andy's wedding day we shot up at Ardtornish.

The evening reception included a ceilidh and as some might know you can't just photograph a proper ceilidh, it can be chaos and it's brilliant fun! So I filmed it on one of our Canon DSLRs with a 50mm lens.
